14yr old son behaviour & drugs

I am in a pit of deep desperation and worry.
My 14yr old son has been taking drugs such as MDMA and acid, he only makes friends with children who have "troubled" families, he is constantly in trouble at school and has now been suspended for 2 weeks.
I have had conversation after conversation with him about all of this, I have been calm with him, I have shouted at him, I have set clear boundaries and rules which we agreed upon together and wrote down, I have given punishments, I have been paying for him to see a Councillor.. I have honestly tried every thing that I can possibly think of and nothing has made a difference.
When I chat to him a out all of this, he will take part in the conversation, says he understands, says all the right things... and then carries on as he was. I feel as though he just tells me what I want to hear to get me to shut up. He does not care at all about being suspended, he actually is quite happy about it!
I want to hear stories of other teens like this who have come out the other end! Right now I can't sleep as I just keep imagining him turning into a drug addict and criminal.

So sorry OP, that sounds horrendous. No real advice but my 13 year old nephew is going through a similar thing. He has ADHD and is going to be starting on meds soon, which his parents think is going to help with regulating his emotions, impulse control etc etc. Any sign of anything like that in your son? What was he like as a child, did this happen gradually or did something trigger it?
