I'm just back from my DD's review meeting. She has been under CAMHS for a year and a half, following an attack and sexual assault, two subsequent suicide attempts, frequent alcohol abuse and other risky behaviours.
During this meeting they variously
Told her, with no real evidence that they thought she as better.
Told me that her being asked not to go back to school except to sit exams because she was found with a water bottle full of wine was just teenage experimentation.
Reminded her that whilst alcohol doesn't mix well with the medication she is on, and she shouldn't drink, she should make sure not to drink more than 14 units a week.
Agreed to taper her meds at her request despite me explaining there had been an Increase lately in the behaviours that prompted her being medicated in the first place.
Agreed to refer her to therapy and for an ADD assessment. They agreed to this a year ago and subsequently failed to do this, despite being chased up roughly every two weeks since.
Discharged her having basically done nothing for 18 months except refer her to a teen alcohol abuse online group, which her appointed counsellor from
Said group kept failing to turn up for.
It's not (totally) their fault. I get it. The lack of funding and they are stretched. But really what is the point? Anyone else has similar experiences? The frustration of it. I just want to scream!
