16 year old drinking alone

Need some good impartial advice please.

My 16 year old son will be 17 next month. He’s an introvert & doesn’t go out with friends in the evening or parties at the weekend. He’s a gamer and talks to schools friends on-line.

He’s quite academic, doing ALevels and could be working harder but 100% school attendance and no issues raised by his school.

We discovered this eve that between Sunday & tonight he’s drank the most part of 700 ml gin bottle (stolen from the drinks cabinet). I’m still in a state of shock.

He did something similar on a much smaller scale a few month back. On that occasion, he got a telling off for stealing and a serious talk about the dangers of alcohol combined with trying to find out if he’s unhappy/bored etc .

We’ve tried to encourage meeting friends and doing social things but we don’t want to push him beyond his comfort zone.

What would you do?

I wouldn't be happy with him taking your drink or drinking in the week when he's supposed to be studying but I don't agree with you on the "drinking alone" theme.

Lots of boys at this age socialise via gaming and you'll probably find that his friends were having one or two beers at the sane time.

How about asking him what he liked and getting him a couple if dans for Saturday night?
