Energy drinks?

I can't find a conclusive answer on the web.

Am I right in thinking the government were going to introduce a ban on sale to under 16s, but that there is currently nothing in place?

A lot of shops will not sell it to under 16s anyway even with no legislation

EggBlanket · 05/04/2023 20:29

They should be banned for all ages.

SquashPenguin · 05/04/2023 20:30

Pretty sure they are already banned for under 16s. I’m always being asked for ID when I’m buying red bull.

dementedpixie · 05/04/2023 20:40

There isn't legislation banning it but a lot of shops have voluntarily chosen not to sell it to under 16s

Ridiculous statement.
Ban all coffee too.

The two things are not comparable at all.

This is the list of ingredients in a can of Monster:

I agree energy drinks should be banned for young children, otherwise for adults it's entirely up to them should they wish to purchase them. I drink Boost myself as I don't like the taste of Red Bull but do limit myself to 2 tins a day though from starting my diet I've cut down to 1 a day. They don't give me energy, it's the taste I love more so.

I've no idea if it's legislation but Tesco etc won't sell it if under 16.

The ingredients in coffee are not fucking coffee. For fuck sake.

Thank you, this is what I am finding too.

So my local village shop sells them freely. I might go and discuss it with them and see if they would consider requesting ID well selling them to kids.
