Any thoughts on how to make very special on a budget?? !!

Watching because I have one coming up too.

One idea I had was to rent an Airbnb and chuck them in it for the weekend, provide food and drinks but DS said no.

He wants go-karting but it's expensive.

Not sure what to do with family/ or not.

🤔

Depends entirely on the 18 year old in question

Vegrocks · 02/03/2023 08:28

for mine?

I am taking mine away for a weekend away in Europe. Just me and her. Fancy hotel and everything with her In mind!

then paying for her and her two best friends to go to London for posh champagne afternoon tea

Took dd1 out for dinner with 3 friends, her sister and her sisters friend (who she knew well at the place she chose (las iguanas) think dd2 suggested it because they had a lax policing policy of pitchers of cocktails (dd2 being underage). Dd2 was at boarding school and went out with her mates at the weekend, having to crawl back through the hole in the fence and a window as she missed curfew, ended up with litter picking duty! We took her out for a meal with her grandparents and other family in the holidays

@Vegrocks OP stated "on a budget". Your input is not helpful.

I don’t know what your budget is? Maybe you can go to an indoor skydive center? That’s about £48. You can just sit and watch him flying (and take pictures).

But what’s “on a budget” to the OP

I was “on a budget” too. My budget.

Whether my input is helpful to you or not… is not something that is a consideration! 😂

My dream of an 18th for DS would be a massive karaoke party for friends and family. His worst nightmare! 🤣

Tbh without knowing what your teen likes, or what the budget is, there's no way to know.

DS1 was 18 last year. We went to London for the day, went to the Automaton museum, Hamley's, M&M store (didn't buy anything in either shop). Then had Pizza Hut for dinner and saw Hamilton in the evening.

For me that was an expensive day out, for others that might be "on a budget"

I went to Europe for a week with a bunch of friends, we got a bus from our home town, across the channel and camped. It was great fun!

mumonthehill · 02/03/2023 17:57

We went for a night at a hotel with GP and god parents, had cocktails, used the spa and then dinner out. DS really enjoyed it and it was lovely. I think have around him the people he loves, food and drink and that is enough especially if money is tight.
