Location on 14yo?

What's your thoughts on having a 14dd share their location with you? She's not overly streetwise and doesn't keep in touch with me so that's why I make her put it on. I sometimes wonder if I'm being ott. She's been drinking a bit, and rumour has it she's tried weed so it terrifies me her being out and me having no clue where she is. She's at full scale rebellion phase.

The condition of my 13yo going out, getting loads of lifts, money for stuff...etc is that he has his location turned on when he's out, he picks up when I ring (or rings me back), returns texts, and lets me know what his plans are. I have told him that if he's ever late home I will report him missing (sounds silly, but was on advice from a local County Lines charity. If a kid says "I can't be late home or my mum will call the police", they will drop the kid like a hot potato - too much risk/hassle)

I don't shout or ground him - for example, when I found a vape on him. We just chat about it and talk about making better decisions. As a result he is pretty honest (I would never expect a teen to be honest about EVERYTHING), we have fun, things are relaxed, there's no tantrums...etc.

I also frame it like this - I always tell my husband where I am and when I will be home. I'd want someone to look for me if I went missing or got hurt! Its not control, it is care.

We have FindMy on iPhone and we all share our locations, my teens don't mind as it's useful when needing to know if they're on the way home from somewhere or need picking up etc. Tbh it sounds like for your daughter it would be very much needed from a safety point of view. If she's drinking, smoking weed etc, you never know what kind of situation she might find herself in.
