DS 14 smart outfit - help needed

Hey all,

Need some help with a smart outfit for my DS (14) - he's going to an event next week with some mates from school and they've been asked to dress smart casual - he's chosen a navy blue shirt, black round neck jumper and some dark grey (almost black) jeans. He wants to pair it with his white airforces with his jeans rolled up

However, this is where DH and I are disagreeing - DS is unsure too - I think the jeans should be not be rolled up, and some normal black socks should be worn - however DH and DS thinks they should be rolled up (DH wants him to go for the no sock look) but DS thinks some longer white socks would look better (although tbf that's all he wears - even to school!) - Which one should DS go for (considering it's a smart casual look with white airforces)

Also - shirt / jumper convo - should the collars be tucked in or out? I and DS think out (although, DS is clueless like me when it comes to style) and DH thinks they should be left in

Any advice for a confused mum and teen :)

Rolled up jeans and white socks are in style- its a pretty normal way to wear them and as long as the shoes are clean it sounds fine for smart casual.

I think collar out and either for the socks

DS 15 says collar out and do whatever with the jeans.

bump - any others with advice?

Thanks all. I'll let DS know :)

He's now saying he wants to go for the no sock look like DH suggested, but he hates trainer socks as he says they always fall down for him - he's thinking of going without socks for the event, reckon that'll be okay?
