Hello and welcome to MN.

I'd ask the Mum how much she thinks is reasonable. You don't want to give him so little that he can't get drinks and snacks or a present if you're lucky but equally you don't want him having so much that they feel embarrassed.

The other thing is can he cope with budgeting? I've hit one that would deal with holiday money very carefully and the other that would buy all of the sweets in the shop on the first day then wonder why they felt so ill 🤦‍♀️

At 14 I imagine he’s got a bank card and will be paying for things on that? Can you give him £20 per day with an understanding that he doesn’t have to spend it all? Or does he have to buy meals too? Then he may need more.
