Present Ideas fro 17yr Old DD

My Dad is 17 next month.

Have no idea what to get her, obviously there's been Christmas.

She crochets and makes jewellery, she has all the equipment and supplies that she wants for that - she has asked for two crochet items for her birthday so I've suggested those to my mum and brother.

I can't buy her clothes, shoes, coats, toiletries or skin care as she's a bit picky about what she likes (also she's nearly 5 foot 10 and very slim so understandably likes to try things in before buying)

She had vouchers for various shops and some cash for Christmas, so I'm trying to think of something different.

I don't have a huge budget because I've been off work due to having treatment for cancer ( although I just found out I'm cancer free😁) but due to have more surgery for something else soon so will be off work for a while yet, so can't spend a vast amount, so any ideas on how to make it extra special for her would be greatly appreciated.

Is she interested in driving lessons? It's great to start young.

I'm sure mum being given the all clear is the greatest gift she could ever wish for so already it will be a special birthday!
How about an experience for her to enjoy with you or friends etc? Maybe a spa day?
Or driving lessons is another fab present. I hope she has a wonderful birthday xxx

My 17yo got driving lessons for her 17th birthday, but sounds like that may be out of your budget? A taster session maybe?

My dd can never have too many vouchers for Urban Outfitters! She and her friends are also obsessed with crystals, incense, fluffy blankets and jellycats!

Does she have stuff like a smart speaker? Wireless earphones?

Any gigs that she might like to go to? Or plays/musicals etc? Workshops that she might like to do? What is she into?

Some kind of experience gift with her friends? An escape room? Crazy golf? Ice skating?

Something nice for her bedroom?

Jewellery? My dd loves the Lisa Angel range, but there is also a lot of very reasonably priced stuff in TKMaxx.

What about an experience rather than an item? Gig tickets for her and a friend? Spa day? Theatre?

Whichwhatnow · 24/01/2023 10:14

Or basically what @MrsBennetsPoorNerves said haha

My DD is into crochet too and as she is ‘crafty’ I’m going to book a pottery lesson with her soon as a treat - it’s £40 each for an hour’s lesson - you may have similar nearby.

Thanks so much for all the ideas.

I think I am going to get her a experience day rather than actual things (although she could do with some new things for her room 😂) am going to look at spa days ( she would love to go with her best friend for this), theatre trip or craft experience for her.

Driving lessons for my DD's 17th. Also provisional license if she's not already got one
