I took Ds to the jobcentre. He's not been attending college and needs job advice. I was given a card by a security guard with a QR code on it. Filled in form online and it says Universal credit. Does he have to have a Universal credit interview for job seeking help??

There are some exceptions, but most 16 year olds aren't able to claim UC. He would probably be better off going to the Careers service locally.

Also looking at whether he can look at volunteer options.

He needs to be doing something, and these days the job centre have the jobs online.

The careers service are probably his best bet, as they work with young people to get them into training and work.

They can advise, and often have training schemes for young people not in education or training.
