What shoes did your dd wear to a prom?

Dd1 ( year 13, age 17) has a black tie event this week. It’s not her prom but I assume same rules apply, she won’t wear heels. Not sure what kind of shoes she Shd be wearing to not stand out too much….I have no style and when i attended these events at school or uni I always got it wrong and felt mortified. Keen to spare her…

Dd had flat silk ballet pumps - literally ballet pumps in a colour to match her dress. She can't do heels at all.

Flat, platform sandals. ASOS, I think.

Trainers or converse seemed to be the preferred footwear at the prom last summer

Horrible high sparkly things from new look - I warned her to carry a spare pair of something more practical- it was a good compromise.

Girls at our prom ...

Mine wore a twirly dress and chunky ankle boots......not what I would have chosen, but she felt fabulous anan"happy in her own skin".

My DD had some sparkly high sandals (year 11 prom) we are shorties so always err on the side of heels!!

This is so brilliant to hear! I would have sent her in a pair of horrible shoes but I have now bought her some blue shiny DM boots thwt she can wear for years afterwards! This is a charity school black tie do this week but they will do for prom next summer as well. mn saves the day again!

Absolutely nobody wore Cons or DMs at DD's prom! But I guess it might depend on the school.

Dd1 wore her old knackered converse. She looked amazing.

This year all the girls seemed to wear trainers under floor length gowns 🤣🤣

I thought it was genius!

About a third of the girls (including DD) wore trainers at hers this summer. The rest wore things like block heeled silver sandals.
