Nexplanon is a contraceptive so it should prevent pregnancy. It can cause erratic bleeding and can also stop your periods.

Mumsnet is not a pregnancy test

How do we know if you're pregnant?

MrsFinkelstein · 13/11/2022 21:13

Nexplanon is one of the most effective methods of contraception that is available, so it's highly unlikely you are pregnant.
If it gives you peace of mind then do a pregnancy test.
It's more than likely that Nexplanon has just stopped your periods - 25% of those who use it become amenorrhoeic.

Take a test and always double up on contraception.

The only definitive way to know if you are pregnant is to take a pregnancy test. I can understand how scary that is, it is scary for any woman who isn't actively trying to get pregnant. This is the responsibility that comes with having sex.

Condoms could possibly help with lessening the worry each time you have sex, as each of you is taking responsibility to ensure no pregnancy.

Your symptoms could just be the implant. You need to by a pregnancy test and see what the results are.

Nexplanon is not 100% effective - you must definitely use condoms as well.

Take a pregnancy test to see if you are pregnant.

YerAWizardHarry · 13/11/2022 21:19

@jtaeapa its literally the most effect contraception type

That doesn't make it 100%

Maybe. But it's still not 100%.

Nexplanon is not 100% effective - you must definitely use condoms as well.

Take a pregnancy test to see if you are pregnant.

Only method of contraception that is 100% effective is complete abstinence.
Nexplanon is 99.99% effective, condoms do not 'need' to be used alongside it, they help to reduce the risk of STIs, they are not needed to reduce pregnancy.
