What would you do?

So I not long received a text from my 15 year old son.
He said this:
"Can u go town after school with my birth certificate pls I couldn't buy a drink in the store today"

It's obvious he was trying to buy energy drinks again and this time they said no. It wouldn't be normal fizzy drink either.

I think if I go to the shop I be thanking the person who refused him and say he not allowed anyway. He is 15 and will be 16 in January.

What would you do? Am I being over the top? This ridiculous now he knows he not allowed them.

I don't buy my dc energy drinks either. Unless they're sick, then they get lucozade.

Aquamarine1029 · 03/11/2022 08:22

He's not allowed to have them. End of.

KangarooKenny · 03/11/2022 08:22

No I wouldn’t be going to town for him.

2pinkginsplease · 03/11/2022 08:26

I wouldn’t be going into town!

I wouldn’t be encouraging my teen to drink energy drinks.

Bluedoritos · 03/11/2022 08:26

Aside from how bad energy drinks are for him, I wouldn't want him taking his birth certificate out as ID in case he lost it! (Assuming that it was a typo in your OP and you meant 'I' not 'u')

Ithurtbad · 03/11/2022 08:28

But would any of you go to the shop. Tell them don't serve him energy drinks. The only trouble with that is my son could come home change out of uniform go a different shop where no one knows him. He quite tall looks older and get given energy drinks.

Apart from telling him he not allowed it. No much I can do as he still find a way of getting them. I can't go every shop to tell them don't serve my son with a photo.

He got ADHD don't need it.

@Bluedoritos

He wants me to take it to the shop.

I would unfortunately be unable to find the birth certificate. And I would turn the wifi off by 11 pm so if he does get wired on caffeine he has nothing to do!

No I wouldn’t be going to town for him.

Me neither.

Ithurtbad · 03/11/2022 08:30

Other than alcohol which highly unlikely he trying to buy. I can't see what other drinks apart from those energy drinks they refuse him.

AuntieDickhead · 03/11/2022 08:33

No I wouldn't go to the shop and tell them not to serve him. Mind you my dc have never tried to buy them so I've never had to think about it.

Razzle5 · 03/11/2022 08:33

Would I go in to the shop and pursue the matter? No. If it was underage selling of alcohol - yes.

as for the energy drink, no I would not want my teen wasting their money on this crap. So no I wouldn’t support it in anyway, urge him not to waste his money on it and say what I could add to my grocery shop that he’d like to give him the extra energy he wants!
