Is there any Secondary Teachers out there that can help? My DD has come in from Secondary School upset. After 4 weeks in First Year she has been told she needs to attend a class once a week for maths that is for children that struggle with maths and didn’t pick things up in Primary School. Today they played go fish and did a word search for maths terminology’s. I am very confused as right through Primary School my DD was in the top Maths group. There is absolutely no indication of her struggling her primary school report in May. I am trying to get answers but not getting anywhere. Can anyone offer any advice. Thanks

What we're her sats scores?
Could she have been confused with another child?
Maybe she had a bad day when they did their own tests.

Possibly she has been mixed up with someone else.
I would either email her form tutor or the head of maths and ask them about it, making it clear that you don't believe she needs this extra support.
(I'm not a teacher)

We've had a couple of instances where DD has been confused with another girl in her year with the same family name, including getting a detention for something that the other girl had done.

Like others have said I'd email her Maths Tutor or her head of college/year.

Update - I have spoken to my DD Head of Maths. She is staying in her current class. When challenged to what evidence they had in just 4 weeks I was told just teacher judgment. No tests or homework but just teacher judgement. My DD also asked her teacher despite me texting her to say no need ( the one time she doesn’t read her texts) and was told “Oh, I don’t think you need to go to that class”!.
