Autism/adhd help?

I have a 16 year old with newly diagnosed autism. He was diagnosed just weeks after leaving school because the waiting lists were so long.
I was also diagnosed with ADHD recently.
We are both rather relieved in a lot of ways as we've both struggled with what we called 'stress' but we now know we've been very overwhelmed with the world in general.
I was wondering if there is any help or support out there for us?
I am a single mum, I work part time and have a few health issues.
My son has just started in a main stream 6th form and has always had very specific requirements to function without meltdowns. It is draining some days.
Most days actually.
Is there any help or support out there for us?

Hi I would advise to talk to your gp to see if he can point you in the right direction for some support for you and your ds. Have you had a look for any support groups in your local area? I would also speak with your ds 6th form too if you haven't already to talk about his requirements to make sure he's getting all the support he needs there. Have you spoken to your work also so they can support you? Do you have any friends or family member you can have a chat with to help you. There is a website called national autistic society with lots of useful information on, its worth taking a look. Your not alone and doing a great job!
