My gay, maybe bi, teen has just announced they’re trans. This is may be a follow up to a fling with a trans boy and general art college excitement, but I’m finding it hard to know what to do to be supportive. They’ve (not very) jokingly called me a TERF for years and I probably am by their standards. What can I do apart from wait?

How old are they?

I don't think you need to do anything, don't make a big deal out of it, a "that's nice" and move on, reassure them you love them "whatever their identity"
Chances are it's just a fad and they will get over it pretty quick.

She’s 19, 2nd year of uni. I know it’s fun to try on new identities when you’re young but I don’t want her doing anything she might regret

Post this in Feminism you'll get loads of advice from women who are currently dealing with it, with their own DC.

Totally agree with getting advice on the Feminism section.
