Leaving kids for the weekend

Almost 17 and almost 15. Both sensible and keen to be left.

I often have to spend weekends with my Mum when her carer has a weekend off and normally take the kids with me. It’s a bit rubbish for them
though as they miss out on a lot of social stuff.

Do you think I can leave them for a whole weekend? Would make all our lives much easier. They’re not the sort to have wild parties. Would probably be once every six weeks or so.

I’ll be too far away to do anything in an emergency but my best friend lives about a mile away and would definitely step in.

They're old enough. If they're sensible and you trust them, then do it. Have some ground rules and good idea to have a friendly adult on hand.

Your almost 17 year old could have left home already, 14 is a bit different but if they are almost 15 -as in 15 in just a couple of months time rather than in 7 months time-then I would think that’s fine.

Of course.

I think that's ok because 17 is old enough to leave home.

Sensible 17 and 15 year olds - go for it.

Enjoy your weekend.

Of course it’s ok, my mum left me at 15 to go on holiday for a week 🤷‍♀️
