Lunch bag for high school?

Dd1 starting high school September. What do high school kids do for lunchboxes? I'm pretty certain they don't have harry potter or pokémon lunch bags like in primary. Do they just shove a tupperware box in their school bag?

IME, they shove some food in their bag, even a tupperware may not be acceptable. Mine would rather have his food squashed, but then also has to carry everything he needs in a day around with him inc pe kit, so bag space is at a premium

Just plain colours. DD's has a plain black one that clips on to her backpack (plain trespass backpack) they have to lug everything around with them so on days she has PE and has her PE clothes she uses the canteen (canteen is a bit hit and miss sometimes there is food sometimes she's lucky if there a biscuit or mouldy banana left!)

DD used a plastic bag
DS used a Tupperware
Years ago though

Just one of the sistema sandwich boxes here

BorderlineObsessedWithYou · 13/08/2022 21:01

My kids refused to use sandwich boxes of any sort, they just used food bags and put things in a small compartment in their bag. They also will not use pencil cases. Secondary age children are mostly ridiculous about this stuff. 🙄

Sistema sandwich box for his late morning snack, then he had another snack from school canteen at lunch time . It and the wrap got put in the freezer for a bit in the morning in an attempt to slightly freeze to keep cool/fresh. There is no room in their bags for a packed lunch bag and noone carries a separate one all day.

liveforsummer · 13/08/2022 22:12

We've had bad experiences from sandwich box refusal so dd accepts its needed now 😆

Itsthelookitsthelook · 13/08/2022 22:13

Just a plain grey rectangular one. May have been Sistema as it fits the large Sistema box in perfectly.

Fifipop185 · 13/08/2022 22:13

Sandwiches, snacks and fruit gets thrown in to their bags which either gets eaten on the way to school or gets squashed to bits and is inedible. Either way I end up loading money on to their lunch cards by first break. The very idea of having a lunch box is sneered at. Hmm

A small sandwich box for a sandwich then everything else just chucked in their school bag.

Ds uses a sistema box with sections. He doesn't use the little pot that comes with it

We have those boxes and they are huge! No way it would fit in my child (not small bag) given the number of books they carry around.

I guess it depends on lockers etc.

dementedpixie · 13/08/2022 22:23

It fits in ds's bag in the back section probably meant for a laptop. He doesn't have access to a locker

DeathMetalMum · 14/08/2022 09:01

Thanks, we currently have the sistema box above already we've used for primary school but I figured it would be too big with everything else that needs carrying.

I've seen the small single sandwich boxes around I think I'll pick up one of those. Really don't want to be using a sandwich bag every day if I can avoid it.

High school kids are so bizarre - a lunchbag was seen as social suicide in DD’s school so it was a daily game of Tetris trying to squash a lunchbox into an already full handbag of books etc🤦‍♀️
