Teenage daughter loves motorsports (Formula 1)

My lovely 16-year-old daughter is utterly obsessed with motorsports - in particular, Formula 1 - but she doesn't have any friends nearby to share her interest with. She loves to go to racing events but I know she'd much prefer to go with someone her own age than her Mum! (we're just back from another racing weekend at the Knockhill circuit in Scotland). We've searched online but haven't had any luck making any connections. Surely there must be other teenage girls (or boys) out there looking for friends with a passion for motorsports? If anyone has any ideas or knows of any links/groups in or around Scotland it'd be greatly appreciated :)

cant help with the age, but this was me 30 years ago and i ended up meeting people from online forums in the early 2000s that i went to races with and still talk to
if your into motorsport im sure she wouldnt mind going with you as shes getting to go
i like all kinds of motorsport and been to knockhill a lot for btcc

Maybe there are some local karting tracks she could visit, if they run a weekly group for her age then there are likely to be f1 fans there. Some of the online groups have changed in the last few years for the worse. I just recently joined a new f1 Facebook group and in the first post there was racist and homophobic comments that I left without reading more.

Thanks folks. She's not had much luck with online groups as sadly she's also faced fairly frequent implicit and explicit misogyny. We'll keep trying though :)

What about joining a marshalling club? Not quite F1 but they have cadets for u18s and when she turns 18, she could do the training to become a volunteer. Loads of different volunteer roles trackside to try as well. www.smmc.org.uk/mod/page/view.php?id=11
