How much pocket money do you give your teens?
DD 17 had a part time job briefly (now looking for another) and we stopped her pocket money then but have now restarted it. We pay for her phone and clothes and plus £35 a month. DS 16 the same.

Is that reasonable? We can afford more but we want to motivate them to look for a part time job.

I give my 16 year old £20 a week. She spends it on make up and going out, it doesn’t go very far. Any less than that and she’d not have many options for things to do at the weekends - a meal with friends at nandos or a trip to the cinema and it’s gone.

She is looking for a job but isn’t having much luck so far.

I give my 14 year old dd £50 a month allowance. She uses it for going out with friends, cinema, meals out etc. We pay her phone contact and clothes.
