How much pocket money for a 14year old DS and what kind of things do they have to do to earn it? Just wondering what everyone else is doing! Living in a village, 1hr bus journey to city where he goes to school and most friends live

Our teens have never had to do anything to earn their pocket money. We see giving them pocket money as part of their upbringing, and doing household chores as part of their being a family.

Mine don't earn pocket money either although if I want something doing on top of their chores I might give them a fiver.

Nothing. They do normal chores because they are a part of living in this family - not because they are paid for it.
Very occasionally we might pay them for "bigger" jobs e.g. painting the garden fence.

Pocket money and chores are not linked here either. Chores are part of contributing to family home.

By 14 ds had his own bank account and we transferred in enough money to cover his school lunches, phone, spotify/netflix, buses, gym, socialising etc. He organised transfers from his account to parentpay for school lunch.
