Hi
My daughter is interested in modelling and I applied online to UK Models. They’ve booked her in for an assessment day to
see if she likes it. I am concerned they will try and hard sell me photographs afterwards which are priced at £50 each!

I also approached Models Direct and they let you upload your own 20 photos to their site but it costs £189 admin fee to join them, which is refunded from your first paid job - assuming you get one.

Are there any recommended agencies I could approach that don’t charge any upfront fees?

Thanks

I think MD used to be a scam - accept anyone and take your money.
My daughter was with a model agency when she was a toddler. The reputable ones don’t sell you photos and you either pay nothing or a nominal fee.
Our experience was 13 years ago so things may have changed. My daughter was with Urban Angels.
Heres a good list of reputable agencies.

There's a group on Facebook called Parents Of Child Models UK - READ THE FEATURED POSTS. It's really informative and explains that UK Models are not a recommended agent,

There's so much advice and stuff on there, from babies right up to older teens. It's not my group I just thought it might be useful to you! It's been helpful for me.

My friends kids are with a reputable modelling agency. They haven't charge anything at all.

🤦‍♀️ Geez we just signed up to Models Direct and paid £169 to be on their website for two years. It seems to be taking them forever to set up our online account AND my biggest concern is that considering the business they’re in most of their Instagram posts are really poor quality photos. Like surely if they are bonifide they can get professional pics of the models on their shoots. Alarm 🚨 bells are ringing and I feel really stupid!

Reputable agencies don't necessarily want professional photos. Contact "Sandra Reynolds" agency. They will be honest and won't ask for anything from you!

Its a paid photoshoot..not a way to actually get into modelling...they will tell you she is great and has a future in modelling and then get you to buy the photos..
