Not sure if this is in the correct thread.

There was a cricket match today at DCs school. DD(12, yr 7) was playing whilst DS(13, yr 9) & I watched. Towards the end a yr 8 pupil from DCs school came over to say to us that DD had been upset because a yr 8 pupil from the opposing school (coincidentally an ex pupil from DCs school) had called her a "transgender bitch" and also a "nob."

DD isn't transgender but chooses to wear her hair cropped to her scalp. (She actually rocks it whereas I would look like I was seriously unwell.) She didn't tell me anything about the incident until I pressed her for more info later this evening. However, DD has poor mental health and still actively engages in self harm. She's so deceptive and secretive that she wouldn't open up readily if she was bothered by this boy's comments. I know for a fact she won't be bothered by the word "nob" though.

I was thinking I should email the opposing school and inform them of the incident as regardless of the possible effect on DD, this pupil isn't representing his school in a positive light. However, is shouting "transgender bitch" just a 2022 version of us shouting "your Mum" back in the 90s? I'm guessing not. Yet am I being completely overprotective here and will school staff just roll their eyes and think I clearly need something else to do on a weekend?
However, there is a yr 9 pupil at school who is a good friend of DS and identifies with a gender different to that of which they were born. I was wondering that if this incident had happened to them, would they feel very uncomfortable?

No that's not like saying 'your mum' it's abusive to her an unacceptable if she is trans or not trans. I would inform the other school.
