Yes. I was going to university at 17.

Justkeeppedaling · 06/05/2022 16:31

16 years 7 months is fine too be left alone overnight.
People can vote at that age in some parts of the U.K.

Rosewaterblossom · 06/05/2022 16:33

I had left school and had a job at that age. He'll be fine!

Ginandslippers · 06/05/2022 16:37

Now admittedly it was 20+ years ago but I had a full time job and had left home to live with a friends family at that age.
When I was 15 I was left home alone while the rest of the family took a UK holiday I didn't want to go on. We had family living 10 min drive away in case of emergency

TheWeeDonkey · 06/05/2022 16:37

My mum used to do it all the time when I was that age...I mean I had a lot of parties but she still doesn't know about them and that's the important part. 😂

iklboo · 06/05/2022 16:53

We went away for a weekend last year & left DS(16) at home. He just had his two mates round & they watched anime & had pizza.

KangarooKenny · 06/05/2022 16:54

Yes, it’s fine.

2tired2bewitty · 06/05/2022 16:58

My parents went to Greece for a week when I was 17 and db was 13. Pre-mobile phones too!

nearlyspringyay · 06/05/2022 16:59

He's
Definitely old enough!

PumpkinsandKittens · 06/05/2022 17:00

I lived alone at 16

CuriousCatfish · 06/05/2022 17:03

Of course it's fine.

Discovereads · 06/05/2022 17:05

Yes it’s fine. In fact, it should be part of training them to be an adult to leave them home alone now and then from 16+. Otherwise can be a big shock when they first move out and are on their own.
