Eating Disorders

DD13 mentions eating disorders a lot & reckons most of her friends are anorexic. She hasn’t been diagnosed herself but talks all the time about having one. Have any parents of teenagers found that their kids’ friends are suffering? When I was at secondary school & college, I only knew one person who was potentially anorexic.

My DD has anorexia, her friend does too but they didn’t become friends until 18 months after my DD was diagnosed, and they met clubbing.

Anyone out there?

My dd mentioned to me yesterday that she's worried about her friend as she's so skinny and doesn't ever eat in-front of anyone. Some of her peers are like skeletons so it wouldn't surprise me in the least. And they are only yr7. My daughter looks massive in comparison but she's a size 6-8 and shapely.

@@SunshineLollipopsAndRainbows go to the boards on eating disorders. You'll get a lot of support on there.

You need to educate your daughter on eating disorders because even if she has friends who have Ed’s it’s important she realises the severity of them and doesn’t try to “mimic” her friend’s behaviours also her saying she has an eating disorder and not actually having a struggle with food is not a good thing for her to be doing.
