Make up for 16yo DD

What make up brands are good for teenage skin? DD has prom coming up and wants to wear some natural makeup (doesn’t currently wear makeup and I don’t wear much so don’t really know where to start).

thought we might visit John Lewis or boots to try out specific shades of a light foundation or tinted moisturiser etc. Are there brands that are good but don’t completely break the bank?

Because I wear so infrequently I tend to wear Clinique, which is obviously a bit ££.

Thanks

Dd(16) likes E.L.f. Products from Superdrug. They’re vegan and cruelty free. They’re quite small packages so you can try a few. Not expensive either. link

Loreal true match is a good foundation

Thanks both, my only problem buying off the shelf is knowing what shade to buy, how do you choose if you can’t try it? Thanks

Could you take her to makeup counter (Benefit for example) and get some help from the assistants?

FindingMeno · 01/05/2022 07:34

Can't she ask friends? They know everything.
Failing that, you tube knows the rest!

Thanks all, went into town yesterday and asked counter assistant for help. Plumped for Urban Decay, not cheap but nice to treat DD and as she only wears makeup occasionally it will probably last ages.

Just a tip as not many people know about this, at some make up counters (I know for a fact that MAC and Charlotte Tilbury do this - not sure about others) - you can book a 1h appointment for a fee where a make up artist will do your make up professionally, which is really nice for events like big outings or prom. However, the price of the service is fully redeemable on products to take home, so actually the service ends up being free! Not for everyone, but I love it :)

Thanks @cringingalittlebit
