Can anyone suggest what this might be please? My 12 year old DD probably has ADHD and possibly ASD. This evening she’s had a huge meltdown over homework, after three hours of the same last night. She thrashes around moaning when in these meltdowns and seems to need to tap walls and repeatedly bang doors. This evening she kept randomly laughing for no apparent reason and said she was on Neptune. I was looking at her face and it was like she wasn’t there, not present. No one home. She said she didn’t want to tell me what was funny. What’s going on? How can I help her?

Probably just puberty. Mood swings are intensified by stress . One third of the hormones impact the brain so these transient behavioural changes are quite common.
