Vaping?? I don't get it. I thought it was supposed to be a thing to wean smokers off cigarettes. I had to pick my DD up from school today to go to an appointment and said I would park 2 roads away to save being in the congestion of other parents. She told me the other day that everyone in yr 10 and 11 vapes (I said I bet they don't they are just telling you that!) Lo and behold today in the space of 10 minutes I counted about 80 kids and 2 without vapes. Apparently its elf bars they all smoke.
She asked me the other day if she could buy one I said no and refused to give her money for one. I have educated her about how dangerous it is and potentially will be in the future. They had an assembly at school a few weeks ago about the dangers and it backfired a bit because it has everybody trying it now and they all like it!!!
However I smoked at 15 because it was cool and trendy to light up as soon as you left school!! She has had a sore throat and cough for the last few days and I suspected that maybe she has succumbed to the pressure. Tonight she told me she has been using a friends elf bar after school. she asked again if she could buy one and I have still said no. She is a generally a good kid but asked me how I would feel if she bought one with her own money, I changed the subject quick and got talking about something else. She knows I am happy and do not condone it - which I am hoping is enough to stop her buying one!!
Is this a huge problem among teenagers or just in my area??
