Irregular periods - normal?

My daughter is only 11.5 but has been having periods for a year now. They are so random. 48 days one cycle, 18 the next and with no two cycles being the same length I'm starting to wonder how long until /if they will settle into some sort of cycle. Or does it need investigating?

Normal

Normal to take a while to regulate for sure but 48 to 18 is particularly erratic!

She is very young still, they will hopefully settle. DD's are all over the place but we had to wait until she turned 16 a few months ago for them to do anything (PCOS diagnosis following blood test) but even so the only thingthey can do is put her on the pill. Having been on the pill at 11 for similar reasons, I don't recommend it.

My daughter's slightly older but started her periods in July. She had 23 day cycles initially but has not had a period since October. I'm presuming it's normal; I genuinely can't remember! Her main concern is that she doesn't know when she'll come on so I bought her some period knickers for a bit of reassurance.
