Hello everyone, this is something of a warning to parents of tricky teens.
Our daughter is going through a tough time and behaving rather badly. We'd heard about teen brat camps and were keen to try them, hoping that it could be the reset she needed. There were quite a few articles and questions about this on Mumsnet which I read.
We did some research and found Damon Bachegalup’s TeenBratCampUK which she attended in August 2021. We had a very difficult experience and I want to warn other parents against sending their child there.
Damon terminated the camp after four days blaming the teens’ bad behaviour. However, two independent witnesses claim the teens were mistreated.
My daughter was able to access another teen’s ADHD medication which made her high for 12 hours; she was able to leave camp and hitchhike with strangers to a local town; the quality of the food was poor; and there was no hiking/ exercise in the mountains as promised.
Damon refused even a partial refund, even the money we paid for a post-camp report about our daughter which we never received. We are currently trying to pursue this through the Small Claims Court.
I would caution anyone in sending their teen to this camp. My feeling is that Damon is preying on desperate parents. So think twice before going down this route. Other camps may be brilliant, but Damon's was not.
