Punishment around birthdays

What do you do if your child does something very wrong & serious close to their birthday?
Do you react by not giving as many presents or would you treat the day as normal?

I'd do whatever consequence I would have at any other time of year. I see gifts as a reflection of our relationship, which wouldn't be effected by short term bad behaviour.

I'd treat the day as normal but any consequences that I would do normally would still stand.

I’d cut off the WiFi but treat the birthday as normal.
