Indestructible school bag

SummerLovingHadMeABlast · 30/07/2021 19:41

My 15-year old goes through school bags like there is no tomorrow. I paid over £100 for a Northface, only for both straps to rip off the shoulders in the last week of term.

I need a black, indestructible school bag that can fit books/ files/ laptop etc.

Any recommendations?

My dd used a large kipling backpack for several years of secondary school

Ergobag are very good.

DD has an Eastpak one which has lasted 2 years

How old was the north face one? I'd be livid! How much stuff does he really need to carry?

SummerLovingHadMeABlast · 30/07/2021 20:08

It lasted 1 school year. Funny thing is, my other DC has a different NF bad and it doesn’t have a scratch on it. Still mint condition. However, other DC refuses to have same bag as sibling Hmm

My ds has had a Nike one for 3 years it was £40 and although it gets thrown about and is always packed it's still like new.

My DS's birth face rucksack is on it's 4th year and it's still perfect! I came on the thread to recommend North Face! He has the Rodey one.

nimbuscloud · 30/07/2021 20:11

Get the bag repaired. Our local shoe repair man does a roaring trade in fixing bags.

Ruple · 30/07/2021 20:11

North face, not birth face. Obviously Grin

I have just bought ds a Samsonite one. Fingers crossed it lasts the year. It looks pretty rugged so I am hopeful.

Fjallraven Kånken . Teen is going into year 9, she has had it since the beginning of year 7. Most of the year group have them .

I refuse to let my two have the same bag - guaranteed they'll take the wrong back or I'll pack the wrong thing!

AlwaysLatte · 30/07/2021 20:29

The laptop and books make it a heavier load, would a designated laptop bag be better?

clickychicky · 30/07/2021 20:31

What is he doing with the bag? If he's not getting in fights or kicking it round then it sounds like he is having to take in way too much equipment. Can he get a locker?

SummerLovingHadMeABlast · 30/07/2021 20:39

I think he has too much kit, yes.

Ds(17) northface bag lasted 5 years. Just bought another of the same one for 6th year and hopefully last through uni.

WeAllHaveWings · 30/07/2021 21:46

This is the one he has Northface Connector.

It Is identical to the northface Vault bag he had which they sold 5 years ago, but the new Vault style bag is not as robust, it has outside pockets for waterbottle which is also good. Reduced to £58 too.
