Who can I report this to?

DD is 13. I noticed that she was being charged for two meals on her school online account. She told me that her friends parents didn't give her money and as she was hungry DD and her friends would often buy her dinner.
I told DD form teacher that it wasn't on for a child to be hungry and they said they'd sort it. A teacher told the friend she would speak to her but no one did.

A few days ago, they had HPV injection at school and DD told me her friend was feeling dizzy cos she hadn't eaten all day and DD didn't have enough money on her account for her so the friend stole food from school canteen.

I know this friends dad has a habit of disappearing and leaving her mother who speaks only basic English to look after the kids.

DD13 has a phone with agreement that I can check anytime. Found messages from friend saying dad is hitting the kids and the mother, friend is scared.... she is a lovely kid and I am genuinely concerned.

With summer holidays coming up I am really worried. Often after school she hangs around the local park because she is too scared to go home.

Do I tell the school again?
Do I report to police?
Do I report to someone else and if so whom?

Thank you.

There will be a designated safeguarding lead at the school. Details should be on the school website so use those to let him/her know of your concerns.

There are safeguarding leads at the school but am not filled with confidence after last time. But I feel like it would be courtesy to at least tell them first...

Ring the school. Say you have a safeguarding concern. They will put you through to the safeguarding lead. Tell them what you know.

Google your local MASH team. They are the best people and really the DSL at school should have sent this up to MASH already

JessieOh · 12/07/2021 21:09

Google your area and MASH (Multi Agency Safeguarding hub) and you should find details of a number you can call to report your concerns.
Poor girl. :-(

Thank you so much. Found MASH website for local area with a telephone number. Going to call them and the school both tomorrow. The MASH route seems like what I was after based on their website. Thank you.
