Tutor questions

So I’ve found a tutor for geography GCSE , the tutor is phoning me this morning , the lessons hopefully all going well will be via zoom
I’ve usually had tutors for my dd via word of mouth and at the house
What sort of questions should I ask ??

Do you want someone who is r has been a teacher or are you ok with someone who has studied the subject? If the latter is ok, what level did they study to?

I usually ask the following (hard to apply to geography as a bit different to Maths)

• are they experienced in the exam board of the subject
• how many students have they taught before at gcse level
• do they set exercise or homework
• will they follow the lesson plan of school or are they doing to be doing strictly their own teaching
• would they help with specific homework set by the school on geography topics.
• how will they help with revision
• will they set any tests and mark them

Are they a teacher.
Are they familiar with the board & current syllabus.
have they ever worked as an exam marker for this or other board.
Will they be able to help with case studies picked by the school.
Have you been clear what sort of tutoring you are after (eg to get to grade 4 or grade 9, what the issues are etc).
Do they set homework.
