Are birthday holidays a thing for mid teens?

Not that I plan to do one. But one of my dd's (who has asd), said all her birthdays have been shit and this is what she feels she deserves to do as a treat.

I was like ShockShockShockShock

Last few years we usually go on family day out to something she enjoys like go ape or adventure park or activity centre and the dc's can bring a friend.

Then we have take away and birthday cake with extended family.

I dont think i can afford a holiday at all this year, let alone one as a birthday treat!!!

I have taken the train to London with my teen dd for her birthday but we live within a reasonable distance and the kids go to a state school so it's within normal at their school.

The teens that they know have accompanied their parents on trips away to celebrate 40th/50th birthdays
