my 13 year old is extremely social and extroverted- she goes out most days with her friends- to the park, town or a small city very near us. i know where she is and times ect. but i have no idea whether going out with friends every day is normal for 12/13 year olds???

Very normal! What's weird about it?
Are they fairly sensible? Do you know the friends your child is with?

LubaLuca · 05/06/2021 18:26

I think it is at that age, in the school holidays. I used to go out whenever I could. Also remember, they've had months of no socialising so they're bound to go mad for it now it's an option again.

NothingIsWrong · 05/06/2021 18:28

Mine is out all day at least one weekend day every week and has been 3/4 days over half term as well

Hellocatshome · 05/06/2021 18:30

How is that weirdly social? Surely thats normal teenage behaviour. At that age life is all about your friends. DS is 14 and is out everyday in the holidays from about 11 until 9/9:30. When he is at school he is out every evening when he doesnt have sports.

icelollycraving · 05/06/2021 18:31

Pretty normal I think.

Cameleongirl · 05/06/2021 18:37

Surely it’s preferable to spending solitary hours in their room playing games or online.😂. DS(12, nearly 13) isn’t quite as sociable but he still spends a lot of time with friends or playing football ( which is also a sociable activity, he has several friends on his team). Be glad she’s getting outside and doing things!

My dc are 8 and 10 and they always want to be out playing with their friends every day and having sleep overs and tea at each others houses.

katy1213 · 05/06/2021 18:46

Why is that weird? The last thing I wanted at that age was to be stuck at home.

colouringcrayons · 05/06/2021 18:50

There is a huge range, not one type of 'normal'.

Some people are happy out a lot, some happy at home a lot.

As long as they are safe and happy, all is well. Be sure you know they really are safe though. I was out a lot and it wasn't always safe.

My DD is 13 and has just started spending lots of time out with her friends.

She's spent so much time at home over the last year that I think the new found freedom is very new and exciting for her age group.

GulliBelle · 05/06/2021 18:53

Sounds like your popular daughter is very popula

Does she have popular friends?

malificent7 · 09/06/2021 19:41

My dd is the same...i'm very happy that she has a strong betwork of friends...not weird!

shouldistop · 09/06/2021 19:42

Very healthy and normal.
