Model touts advice

Does anyone have any experience of their sons being approached by model agency touts from Supa Model Management?

DS 17 was approached in portobello rd this week. He's 18 in 2wks. He thinks he is able to go to a meeting with them in London alone on Monday. He goes out in London a lot, is capable of going alone, but my worry is how naive he is.

Being spotted is a massive complement to him and as far as he is concerned, we always look on the dark side etc etc.

How do I know the 'spotter' was genuine? The agency is genuine but the spotter could be anyone.

What would a real spotter ask / do??

My first point would be to Google names and the business etc. to see if it's legit.
I'm sure it will probably bring up other peoples stories, good and bad.
I have no experience of modelling so can't tell you anything relevant but I suppose all you can do is tell ds not to hand over any money and give him some pointers. He's an adult now, you can't stop him doing anything unfortunately.

You could ring the agency and see if the spotter really works for them.

Thanks. I've done all you have suggested already. Thank you for replying.

I gave him the number from their website and asked him to ring and check details of the appt. so thanks too.

I would go with him. It could be anything and he could end up being pushed into a situation he's not happy with. What happens if it's not an agency but they're looking out for young men to take photos of for example.

I know he’s old enough to ring himself but.. if it was me, I’d ring myself and just say “I’m confirming ds appointment for Monday at 2pm”. It just gives you peace of mind.
As pp states you can also go with him if he’s happy enough with that.
