Shaving - breakout on face

My son has had hair on his upper lip for a while and now on his chin. His dad thought it would be a good idea to buy him an electric razor. He used it and it wasn't very good and now he has broken out in spots on his chin and upper lip and the hair is still there. That was a couple of weeks ago.

I've bought him a wet shave razor but don't know what to do about the break out of spots. Scared further shaving will make it worse. Is there anything he can put on to clear it? Anyone have any advice?

Tea tree oil can be very good for shaving rash. There are products designed to treat it too. Definitely put shaving on hold until it clears up unless the hair’s really bothering him.

Hopefully it’s just a teenage skin reaction to something new and he’ll get better over time but if not an electric shaver with a cleaning station might be a good investment. They’re expensive but made all the difference to shaving rash for my DH.

Agree with leaving it and treating the breakout for a few days. Hopefully he's got a break from school now anyway?

Do you think it's spots or a rash?

It looks like spots but they must be a rash from the razor because he had nothing at all there before. Its so annoying. A couple of weeks now and still there. Been getting him to use the Cerave cleanser morning and night for the last 3 days but its not done anything yet.
