Can a 13 year old boy shrink?

Either something has gone wrong with our measurements somehow or DS 13 is shrinking. We had to measure DS for his new cricket whites and he was 5ft 11 and a bit. He was keen to know when he reached 6ft as then he would be the same height as his Dad so we put a little line on the doorframe at 6ft. He has just stood against it to see if he is yft yet and he is a good 2 inches under which would mean he has shrunk. Bare feet both times. I had thought he seemed a bit smaller when hugging him but didn't actually think he could be shrinking! Could this be an actual thing or am I going mad?

I think in the morning we are all taller than in the evening - could that be it?

Are his shoulders level when he's standing?

We looked this up the other day as our boys were smaller when we measured them one evening and apparently they can lose height during the day.

As others have said, morning to evening there can be a difference. We shrink throughout the day.

My daughter had scoliosis (curvature of the spine) it may be worth doing a google search on signs to look out for.

Yup, as whatsleep said, get him checked out for scoliosis. Mine was noticed during a check up by the school nurse when I was 12.
