Firstly:- I’m I a different time zone. All this happened while you were sleeping.
Today I picked up my 14y/o DD’s friend and went to drop both of them at another friend’s place. It was lunchtime. I thought I’d drop in and say Hi to the mother. To enter the house, you go through the garage, so their five (?!?!) new rescued greyhounds don’t escape through the door. As the garage door rolled up, the younger daughter (12?) who is not NT, barreled out of the house laughing maniacally, brandishing a giant can of fly spray and a sharp, pointy knife. The two girls were like deer in headlights and hid behind me. It took a few goes, but a gentle but firm “X..... DROP THE KNIFE OR WE’RE NOT COMING IN!” She dropped the knife and I slowly picked it up, and then asked for the fly spray and she handed it over. My daughter’s friend then came skidding down the stairs in bunny slippers and tried to start a “She started it” thing with her sister. I shut that down with them both. She was also brandishing a giant can of fly spray. Then I asked what was in her other hand and it was A CIGARETTE LIGHTER!!! My daughter snatched that immediately. (Yay her!) I asked where her parents were (Not there of course.). There was a bloke maybe 19-20 sitting on the couch watching the fucking cricket. I asked whether he was there to supervise.... Not technically.
I spoke to this girl and my daughter privately and said that I am only responsible for my daughter and for the other girl’s safety. The only thing that is stopping me from calling the parents is that this girl has chosen to confide in me about her not insignificant issues at home. Her mum does go over the top, her father.... something very not right there. This girl is masking other issues. Do I break confidence and tell the parents or call the school and ask to speak to the counsellor? There are too many icks covered up I think.
