Tellonym app worries

Hi, I don’t know if any of you are aware of the app ‘tellonym’ but it allows people to anonymously message the user a question (whether they know you or not!) for all to see.

My daughter, who is 15, was showing me some pictures on her phone and a notification popped up saying ‘you have a new tell’ and she clicked on it which opened the app.

I was absolutely mortified, people were asking her if she ‘shaved her downstairs’ and asking about what kind of underwear she wears, and what’s worse is she has been answering them.

When I began questioning why on earth she would tell people such personal information she said that all the girls get weird questions like that and it’s ‘probably the boys having a laugh’. I tried telling her that it’s most likely perverts asking her to reveal intimate details but she brushed me off and told me that if random men are getting off to her answers that’s their problem, not hers!?

Have any of your teens had similar experiences with this app? I’m at a loss of what to do

I had never heard of that app before but now that I know, if my DDs will ask for it, for sure I wont allow the installation.
I've the parental control app on my DDs phones that blocks any new app installation, when they want to install something a request is sent to the parent that can block or approve it. In addition to let the parents monitoring what they are doing on their phones, text and photos included (this depends on which parental control you use).
I strongly suggest you to install some good parental control, I'm shocked by her reaction, like it's nothing, just a common thing Confused
Probably next is send me photos, phone number, let's meet.
