Has anyone had a kid they expected to be an awful teen turn out to be great?

Mine are 16 and 12...the 16 year old was a tricky child but chilled out a lot when she hit 14 weirdly. She gained a lot more confidence and her social skills boomed. My younger was a relaxed, confident kid but now she's a pre-teen she's quite tricky!

Ds is 16 and was the most stubborn child ever, keep waiting for the teenage angst, "it's not fair!", "I hate you", "I am 16, an adult, you can't tell me what to do " etc. that I said to my poor mum.

Has to happen sometime, but for now he is lovely.

Not mine really - the one I thought would be hard work as a teen is indeed hard work (impulsive, natural risk-taker). And the one who was always easy going has sailed through his teens with a close relationship with me throughout.

My mum says I was easier than she'd expected - I was an emotional child and prone to tantrums, but more chilled out as a teenager and always good at conversation. Though I was probably better at being sneaky and hiding things from her than she ever realised tbh! Wink
