Where can I buy clothes for a very tall 13 year old?

DD is 13, 5 foot 11 and very skinny. She would LOVE to be able to fit into kids clothes (she's not super mature) but even size 15/16 kids stuff is always way to short. Her school doesn't have a uniform but they are expected to dress "modestly". Any ideas about where we might get basics that would be appropriate?

I have similar issues with DSD 14, I buy her clothes now from New Looks adult range. You tend to find that lots of their range is similar E.g the jeans are the exact same style in both adults and kids but the adults have the different leg lengths - so I'll buy her a size 6 in long, for instance.
Same with jumpers to be fair; they have very similar ones in kids and adults!

Primark too as adults sizing goes as low as size 4 and up to a 36 inch leg, but appreciate that some people aren't too keen on primark!

It takes some hunting as there are obviously clothes in adult ranges that aren't suitable for young teens (low cut tops etc) but generally finding winter clothes ok as it's mostly jeans, leggings and jumpers!

I have a tall and very slim daughter (13 nearly 14) and have this same problem. She’s not that tall yet but has a very tall 15 year old brother and is heading that way! Kids sizes are just too wide and short for her. I have had some success with basics from ASOS. You can filter tall Fit. I’ve also got some regular adult clothing (leggings) in the smaller adult sizes from there.

I am sure one day she will be happy to be tall but right now DD hates being head and shoulders taller than all her peers. Like all teenagers its important to have clothes she feels good in.

Thanks for the suggestions. We will give them a go.

I have just ordered my daughter a pair of black jog pants from ASOS. Size 6 and in a tall fit (they do a size 4 as well). I will report back how they fit tomorrow. Smile

Look for adults size 4. There are lots of jeans on the market where you can select the waist and leg length. My dd has a 24 waist 32 leg which probably equates to around a 11-12year old size on the waist (if that make sense!)

GreyishDays · 11/11/2020 22:08

What waist size is she?

sonys · 25/11/2020 17:32

I have just got my daughter a pair of Jenna Skinny jeans from New Look tall range. They are a size 6 and have a 32” leg (I’ve just measured it). I also got the jog pants I mentioned before. They have been washed, so may have shrunk a bit, but the inside leg is 31”. Hope this helps. I’m quite amazed at the New Look jeans as they were £6 in the sale and fit her perfectly!!!

Boohoo do a size 6 in tall fit

Alexandernevermind · 25/11/2020 17:42

I was going to suggest New Look and Primark, although Primark clothes now fit too short for my 5'8.5" 15yo.

H&M are good for tall and slim

Rowgtfc72 · 05/12/2020 06:58

My dd is 13 and 5ft 10.
Are the new look jeans high waisted? Mines all body and likes them round her waist. Primark do high waisted but shes solid and quite muscular from years of dance and sport and finds their jeans too skinny.
School trousers have been a nightmare. As have the simple job of finding black lace up non heeled school shoes in a size 9!

WhatHaveIFound · 06/12/2020 09:41

H&M are great for tall and slim. I always buy my DS's jeans there. For your DD maybe have a look at Zara too. Designed for skinny Spanish people!

GooseberryTart · 06/12/2020 16:06

My DD 15 on the slim side 5’10’ but a longer back rather than legs got some from New Look when she was in year 8 which still fit her nice. She also has some that fit nice from Asos Tall. Also TopShop jeans are meant to be good if your tall and slim, if your quick off the mark.
It might be worth joining the facebook groups ‘Long Tall Families’ and or ‘What’s the alTallnative to LTS?’ and asking on both of those sites.
