Hi all,
DS16 has through calorie counting lost about 3 stone. He wont tell me his exact wight, but he got 30 inch waist trousers recently and they are maybe a bit too large. So I reckon he is about 10.5 stones now. He is 6ft 1. BMI is 19.
He is extremely strict now in what he eats and when. He has a healthy range of food, lots of protein, veg and fruit but not many carbs or fat.
I have been worried for a few weeks now and make sure he has a good healthy tea with fats as I dont think he is eating enough for his age.
He came and spoke to me at the weekend and said he is getting worried about his self image and realises he is at the tipping point of it becoming obsessive. I am so proud he he been this honest with himself, and me, and want to support him to stop where he is and food become an enjoyable thing, rather than a priority in his day that it has become. He has stopped (Covid rules applying) going out with his friend,s or even playing football which he loves. He is cold all the time and little energy.
I would appreciate any pointers in what I should/shouldnt do/say etc. I have googled the situation, but I would appreciated any experiences where your son has possibly got to the edge of an eating disorder and managed to pull back. I am terrified of making it worse by hovering around when he is getting his lunch, or just saying too much about him eating more.
Thank you x
