How can I help her?

My daughter is only just 18. She is a bag of nerves. Worries about everything. She won't even sit in a car outside a shop on her own. Anxiety levels are very high. She was worried about going to toilet in the night in case someone was in the house so we bought a night light for the hall so she could see where she was going. But recently she is having IBS symptoms. She is also staying in her room a lot of the time despite me going in and asking her to come watch TV, go for a walk etc. I need help to help her relax. Anyone any advice?

Hi sorry no one responded, I’d say get a good few counselling sessions in. CBT is good for anxiety. When did this start??

Google your local Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) service, she may be able to self refer for CBT for anxiety, if that's something that she'd be willing to consider.

Otherwise, the BABCP has a register of CBT therapists who may offer private appointments.

Yes I think she would really consider CBT. She has been to GP since my last post because she's been having sore stomach and interrupted bowel movements/cycle she had bloods done and gave poo samples and he has asked to see her again (well phone call)I emailed him to say I'm concerned about her anxiety levels so maybe he will offer some help too.
