DD14 - not eating

Over the last year my DD has really reduced the amount of food she eats. She pushes her food around her plate, eating less than a quarter most of the time even when it’s her favourite. She might eat breakfast if she remembers or has time. Lunch at school is a bit too iffy too. She never used to be picky and enjoyed food, now she picks over anything that is not sugary snacks. I can’t remember the last time she finished a meal.

We’ve talked about it, but she says there’s nothing wrong and that she’s just not hungry. After a full day at school and hardly any food, she must be starving, I just don’t know what to do or how to help her.

Does anyone have any advice?

Monitor carefully but don't make a fuss would be my advice for now.

I am going through the same with my DD also 14. I'm trying my very best to not make it into an issue but it's difficult. Like you my DD is still happy to eat sugary snacks if she can.

I know my DD has been through her growth spurt and is not growing massively. Also not that much exercise going on. She is also keen to have a trim waist.

I'm watching, hoping it's pretty normal and feeling she might have a small appetite. I'm saying nothing, serving up heathy food that I know she likes and keeping my fingers crossed. Let me know hoe you get on.

Could she be experiencing anxiety where she doesn’t have as much as an appetite and finds it hard to eat.

As others have said keep an eye on it and see how she goes
