Dd year 8 struggling at school

Dd has always struggled at school, she just lacks motivation and finds it hard.

She knows what she wants to do when she leaves school but to do that she needs gcses and a levels.

She was doing so well last year and moved up from the bottom set in maths (her main struggle). But obviously lockdown has put a massive spanner into it and we’ve started at the bottom again. She was doing so well before lockdown with motivation etc but now it’s all gone. We help her with her homework but if we don’t mention it she probably would forget to do it.

It’s causing me so much worry :( I Did not so good at school at all and ended up skipping a lot of school because I found it hard. I now have no qualifications and I had her at 16. I do not want her to have the life Iv had and I’m willing to do whatever it takes.

Help :(

Her spellings are awful too, I’m not sure if she’s dyslexic? I am.

I saw on her phone she spelt “sore” as “saw” 😩

What does the school say? Haven’t they ever mentioned the maths or spelling?

No nothing, apart from that she was working hard and had improved in maths. But obviously this was last term.

But surely if her maths skills and spelling were not strong they would have been mentioned at primary?
