I found this under my DS bed. I'm pretty sure it's drug related. Does anyone know what it is?

Nitrous oxides is the issue. I suspect it's a cream dispenser but used to take laughing gas.

ManualFlusherSnot · 21/08/2020 18:32

Is it not a hair water spritzer?

katmarie · 21/08/2020 18:32

Its a whipped cream dispenser which uses nitrous oxide to foam the cream. So yes it is drugs related, while I would say there are more dangerous drugs out there that nitrous oxide, it probably means you need to have a chat with him

Oliversmumsarmy · 21/08/2020 18:32

Definitely looks like a whipped cream dispenser

Thank you, that makes sense. I've found nitrous oxide canisters before. He knows I'm not happy about it him using them, but he's 18 so not much I can do really. In a way I'm kind of relieved it's nothing worse, although not ideal obviously.

@ManualFlusherSnot it was in a bag with rizla, lighters, etc so I assumed it was drug related. It does look like a hair spray can though!

Hello Lilly,
I Want to encourage you to keep talking to your son about it. I still think you have some influence and leverage, even though he is 18. I Wanted to pass along a fact sheet on nitrous oxide:

www.theblackberrycenter.com/whippits-11-facts-you-need-to-know/

We recently had a high school senior die from using Whip Its while he was visiting a college campus (Pennsylvania USA). Heartbreaking. I don’t mean to scare you, but I wouldn’t want you to dismiss it because it seems like a less dangerous drug. I would also worry about what he might try next.

It takes a village to try to keep these kids on track! Best wishes to you and your family. I hope it was okay to express concern. Juliette

Hi @PeppermintLilly

As a mom myself, I can totally relate to the feeling of finding something you wish you hadn't in your child's room. And yet knowing it can't be ignored...
As for what you found, this is a nitrous oxide canister, known by the street-name whippits when its inhaled. It's a very brief, 10-30 second high, but there can be some health risks like brain, heart, or lung damage.
If you haven't already, talking to your son about this is a good idea. Hope this helps! Smile
