Boys and shoe size

Just for interest - when did your boys’ feet stop growing? DS (14) is obviously having a major growth spurt just now and has gone into a size 12 shoe (! I ordered them on line in the sale because his size 10s looked too small, I thought a 12 would be too big and was preparing to put them by and order an 11, but they fit). He still looks like he’s growing upwards to do, so hoping his body catches up with his feet Grin

Wow!
My 15yo son has been nudging 6ft for a while, but he’s only recently started wearing a 9. For a while he was stealing my size 8 Converse (I’m 5ft8 with big feet 😑). I’m expecting his feet to start catching up with the rest of him at some point.

BigusBumus · 10/08/2020 16:43

My nearly 18 year old DSs feet stopped growing at about 16 and a half. He takes an 11 in school shoes (mens brogues) and a 12 in Nike trainers.

My 13 year old DS is already an 11 and i'm really hoping for his sake he stops soon. but then he was early into puberty and is already 5ft11, hairy armpits, deep voice etc and only just about to go into Year9. Hopefully he will stop groing soon but those online height calculators predict he will end up 6ft 4.

Slimpotato1 · 10/08/2020 20:51

I thought my DS17 had big feet at almost size 10, his are small compared to you’re sons! He’s around the same height as your ds13 though (183cm - not sure what that is in ft).
In response to OP, i think it can happen at any age really. Just depends when they start and finish puberty. When did your son start? And how tall is he atm?

Thanks! Just now he is almost 5'9". His voice broke when he was about 13.5, since he turned 14 he started getting noticeable leg-hair, armpits about 14.5. Ach, it is just for fun and what will be, will be... But for my wallet I hope his feet have stopped!!!

Fingers crossed he stops soon otherwise you'll be visiting the Clown Shoe Shop. 🤡

BikeRunSki · 22/08/2020 20:06

DS, 12 next month, is an 8. He’s 5’4” and skinny. I expect he has a massive amount of growing still to do, since no man in either mine or DH’s family is under 6’2”.

pinkbalconyrailing · 22/08/2020 20:09

my (young) teenagers are pushing 6ft (we have a bet going that they reach it by christmas) and have european size 43 and 44. their dad 'only' has 43, so I hope that they will slow down a bit soon.

whirlwindwallaby · 22/08/2020 20:11

DS is 14 and his feet have just about caught up with mine, size 6.5. I think he has hit a growth spurt as he was 157cm three months ago at 14 and is 161cm now.

Ohhgreat · 22/08/2020 20:14

I've found the feet grow, then the height! My eldest was size 7 leaving primary school, but while he shot up in height during year 7 his feet stayed the same. Year 8 and his feet grew two sizes in 6 months!

lorn195 · 22/08/2020 20:15

@BikeRunSki I am with you there. DS age 13,has had a growth spurt over the past 5 months. He's now over 5ft 5" (taller than me), and Hester went to buy school shoes now size 8 (trainers sometimes Size 9). So, I am in sympathy with every one of you.

ScarlettDarling · 22/08/2020 20:15

My 16 year old ds is 6'2" but only wears 8 1/2 or 9! Diddy feet!

lorn195 · 22/08/2020 20:16

Hester ??? Should have been I had too buy.

CMOTDibbler · 22/08/2020 20:18

Ds is 14, 6'1 (185cm) and a size 10. He's grown a lot in height in the last year - and isn't stopping - but thankfully has been the same foot size for a year

ilovespinach · 22/08/2020 20:23

I have to buy my 12 year old DS size 46. I think that's Uk size 11!!

WhenDoISleep · 22/08/2020 20:32

I really hope DS1 stops growing soon but he is only 11 - we went to buy school shoes last week and he needed a 9 in school shoes but 11 in trainers (he was wearing a 10 but his toes were practically coming out the end).

I am waiting for a growth spurt upwards but there is no sign of it yet - he is currently 5"2.

NCTDN · 23/08/2020 08:07

I know this is all boy related, but I really hope like pp that big feet mean the rest will catch up. DD is 16 and size 7 feet, but only 5'1" so her feet are huge in relation to the rest of her.

Not sure. DSis is 5’9”, size 5/6, I’m an inch shorter, size 8/9!
Sparticuscaticus · 23/08/2020 08:16

My 18 year old is in size 12 shoe
Same shoe size since he was 15 , 5 foot 10. He is 6 foot 1 and still growing.

He has taller friends (6 foot4) with bigger feet (14)
None of their feet look big, it's all in proportion

Sparticuscaticus · 23/08/2020 08:36

To the PP worrying about her DDs foot size

My Dsis was 5 foot 4 with size 7 feet. I'm 5 foot 9, size 9 feet

I used to hate my "big feet" when I was younger. I learnt to appreciate them -
It made me a better sports woman, more grip and flex in movement
My DS says same, his Rugby is better for having feet that he gets good stance and push off with, he's great power in scrum
I am a fast swimmer (stronger propelling kicks when you have bigger feet, same for my boy)

I was more elegant dancer (rise and fall looks effortless) in the specialist dance I used to do . Doesn't apply to DS as his dancing is well... ahem..

My feet look elegant and lower legs slimmer when you have long feet and I can wear killer heels (4+ inches) with ease.

To OP. It is expensive trainer and shoe buying when they go through them quickly. You can only get size 13+ shoes for men online (DS has taller friends). But resell the trainers and shoes he's barely worn & outgrown on eBay. You'll make 1/3 to 1/2 back

mamaduckbone · 24/08/2020 22:27

Ds1's feet seem to have stopped growing well before the rest of him. He's now 14 with size 11 (12 in rugby boots) and has been the same for a good year and a half.
I'd say he's grown at least 6 inches in height in the same period - he looked like a golf club for a while with these enormous feet on the end of his little spindly legs!! He's now 6'3" and slowing down.
I'd put money on your ds having a massive growth spurt soon OP - the feet tend to grow first.

netflixismysidehustle · 25/08/2020 17:29

Wow!
Ds is 14 and a size 7.
His brother is 19 and a 9.5 and his Dad is a 10 so I'm expecting his feet to grow to a similar size?
