What is a QB test for ADHD

Apparently it is used in the diagnosis of ADHD quite frequently. What is it and how does it work? Is it always used.
Also posting in teens section as SN doesn’t get much traffic

Hi my DS has two QB tests but unfortunately he is so inattentive that be could not complete them ! The person sits in front of a TV monitor with a small device attached to their head by a velcro band. They have a clicker in their hand and have to click every time they see whatever they have been instructed to look for. The device on their head tracks their movements whilst completing this. Google QB Tech website. My explanation is simple but the actual technology is sophisticated.

Also search up on You Tube "Assessment of ADHD using QB test'

It's not always used when assessing for adhd, I think it depends on the area. My son was diagnosed age 8 without a QB test and has never done one. I'd love to see his results both medicated and unmedicated!

No, it's not used everywhere / all the time.

LotsofQuestions1 · 31/07/2020 23:34

When is it used then do you think? When medication is going to be an option in treatment, diagnosis purposes or to weed out ‘fakes’. Sorry for all the questions

DS was diagnosed with ADHD via a private assessment back in February without a QB check. They did offer us one but stated that it wasn’t necessary and given that it was £170 and we already had a diagnosis we declined.

LotsofQuestions1 · 03/08/2020 18:13

That’s quite interesting. That’s quite expensive for a 15-20 minute test!

The consultant that we saw said that the QB check tends to be used if diagnosis is not clear cut and there is some ambiguity between teacher, parent and child responses on the Connors forms.
